Invisalign vs Braces

What Should I Choose?

While Invisalign is nearly 20 years old, it is still a relative newcomer in the orthodontic world in comparison to metal braces, which have been the traditional and time-tested corrective option since the 18th century.

Advances have been seen in both procedures and the option has never been more confusing to some of our customers, who might not really be sure one way or the other, so we put together a quick comparison of invisalign vs braces to help you decide.

While braces and their colour pads are covered as best as possible, what’s most important here is the fact Invisalign does what it says on the tin; it’s an almost completely invisible orthodontic corrective procedure that doesn’t let anyone know you’re wearing braces.

This is particularly important for some of our older and more mature customers, who may not have had the option to have corrective procedures during their teen years or might have been hesitant about it all along.

Now that they’ve reached an older age, there’s a stigma associated with wearing something metallic with colour pads that can either match their own enamel or colour-tipped to suit their own preferences.

Instead, wearers needn’t advertise that they’re wearing braces in the first place and can get an almost completely clear option in Invisalign.

Braces and Invisalign are very close in terms of expected treatment time. Treatment time can take up to two to two and half years depending on the movement required.

Invisalign braces is a removable system. Compliance is the biggest risk factor. You will need to take aligners out while eating, brushing and flossing.

This also means it’s possible to misplace or lose your aligners which requires a new one be made and is an extra cost.

Invisalign and metal braces are competitive with pricing.

You will generally find that Invisalign sits in the middle to upper price of braces, but stepping up ‘Clarity’ in braces leads to a higher price tag, something invisalign does better and offers outright for patients.
