Teeth Whitening Treatment at Peninsula Dental Frankston Vic

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening is a popular and well established cosmetic dentistry procedure.

The active ingredient is Carbamide Peroxide or Hydrogen Peroxide, which has been actively used safely for many years. It has been recognized by the FDA as an oral antiseptic and is now used for its superior teeth whitening properties.

The whitening process is effective on most discoloured teeth. Certain stains that were caused by antibiotics may take longer to respond to the treatment.

The degree of whiteness will vary from patient to patient, depending on the structure of the teeth and number of applications.

There are two methods of teeth whitening. One is In Office/ In Chair Whitening procedure and other is a Take Home whitening procedure.

The Whitening Process

For In Office / In Chair

Your teeth and gums are isolated and whitening gel is placed on your teeth for a session of 8 to 10 mins.

In one sitting you may have 1 to 3 sessions until you achieve your desired colour. This procedure is commonly used when you are attending functions and parties.

Take Home Whitening Procedure

During your diagnostic visit, impressions will be taken and the dentist will make custom fitted bleach trays/appliance.

At your second visit you will be fitted with your bleach trays and provided with whitening gel. You will also be given specific instructions on how to administer the gel and how often to wear the tray.

This is a very popular procedure where you will have full control. You can do touch ups and buy whitening gel tubes when needed.
