Tooth Discolouration

Tooth Discolouration at Peninsula Dental Frankston Vic

Tooth Discolouration Will Occur Naturally with Age

Teeth Whitening is a popular and well established cosmetic dentistry procedure.

However the intensity and level of discolouration can be reduced with teeth whitening options. Here at Peninsula Dental we offer In Office or Take Home Treatment options.

Tooth discolouration is categorised as two types, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic stains take place within the internal structure of your tooth and can occur as a result of excessive fluoride, certain antibiotics or trauma to the teeth while it’s still developing. Extrinsic stains occur on the enamel of your tooth (otherwise known as the external layer) and are caused by foods, drinks (such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, red wine) and tobacco.

We Often Suggest You Take Preventative Measures

Such as maintaining regular dental cleans, brushing regularly and rinsing your mouth after drinking coffee, soft drinks or alcohol.

However once your teeth are stained it’s very difficult to remove the brown spots and streaks or yellow tints without dental treatment.

You don’t need to suffer from an embarrassing smile any longer, give us a call to discuss which treatment options are suitable for you.
